The mission of the Turner Foundation is to protect and restore the natural systems – air, land, and water - on which all life depends. The Turner Foundation looks for projects that parallel the sustainable management practices that the Turner family utilizes on its own network of nearly 2 million acres. Projects and organizations active in the landscapes and states where Turner properties are located are eligible for funding.
To fulfill its mission, the board of the Turner Foundation has approved the following priorities:
Conserve Land to Protect and Restore Wildlife and Biodiversity
Support Wildlife-Friendly Renewable Energy
Protect and Restore Freshwater Resources for People and Nature
Increasing Inclusivity and Accessibility to the Conservation Movement
The Turner Foundation will prioritize projects that cut across more than one of its stated priorities as well as those that demonstrate interest from other funding partners or otherwise maximize the Foundation’s investment. Organizations can submit a request for renewal after the initial funding year, but programs are not funded beyond three consecutive years.
